The Number 1 Key to Turning Sales Training into Sales Results

When you are a sales person, one of the worst things that can happen is when someone “detects” a sales technique or approach that you are using.

In this article I am going to share with you the number 1 best way I know to convert your sales training and learnings into sales results whilst being yourself.

But firstly, let’s examine why you would even want to do this…

When you use an idea, or a piece of dialogue “parrot fashion” you can easily come across as contrived.

Here’s why that is not a good thing…

As soon as someone thinks you are overtly trying to “sell” them they often raise their defences
When people become defensive they are less open to what you want to sell
When people start to feel pressured, or that it’s more about you trying to make a sale than to actually help them, they will rarely buy.
If you sound like a sales script that’s what your client will hear – just ripping off someone’s script will prevent you from sounding real and buyers can spot that a mile away.

So here’s what you can do to avoid this happening to you…

Adapt everything you learn to your own language and personality.

If you are a student of sales, influence and persuasion (which you should be), you need to adapt it to your own personality and language. For instance, when I create language for people’s sales system, I tend to be pretty wordy.
If someone is giving you language to use in your sales process, the language framework they give you needs to be flexible enough so that the individual that’s using it can make it their own.

You or you team need to be able to express the same core structure of the language but in your own way or it will sound awkward.

Give yourself an honest mark out of 10 for sincerity in terms of how you sound on the phone or face to face.
