About 5 years ago I injured my shoulder really badly after a pretty bad stack on my skateboard.
I pretty much couldn’t move the thing.
To view this email at our blog (where there is a really cool image associated with this email) go to.
I had a Cortisone injection to reduce the swelling which worked ok until I went surfing again and stuffed it up again and was back to square one.
Once I looked into it I realised that the skateboard accident wasn’t the root cause of the problem.
It was a culmination of years of surfing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and water polo that had caused a muscle imbalance in my shoulder that was causing the wrong muscles to be engaged which in turn caused a bone impingement on my shoulder. (which was bloody painful).
Okay, stay with me I really am going somewhere with this.
So what were my options…
I could go under the knife and get a bone shaved (the fast option) or I could physio my way out of it. (which would take longer – about 4 months).
I thought what the hell I will go the longer road.
But here’s the key distinction.
I deliberately set out not to just “fix” the problem but to make my shoulder virtually bullet proof so that it would NEVER happen again.
So my point for you is this…
If you have identified a weak point in your business be it your sales force, sales process or marketing system.
Don’t just chuck a bandaid on it, nail the sucker to the wall and make it so that it’s hard as diamond and the very best it can possibly be.
Put together the resources the personnel and a solid plan to make it “best of breed” so that you are the standard in that area.
It’s no more expensive to do it right the first time it’s more just a matter of proper framing, intention and mindset.
Five years later I have had no more troubles with my shoulder because this is the head space I adopted from day one.
So my question to you is this.
What part of your business are you tolerating right now that you need to not just fix, but cut out and re-install a turbo charged version?
Have a great remainder of your week.
